Prof Tanya Munro Appointed Chief Defence Scientist from March 2019

DICA congratulates Professor Tanya Munro on her appointment from March 2019 as Australia’s next Chief Defence Scientist (CDS), the first woman appointed to the role. 

Professor Munro is a highly distinguished physicist, is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation at the University of South Australia and is an ARC Georgina Sweet Laureate Fellow.   

As a member of the Commonwealth Science Council (CSC), board Member of the Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the South Australian Defence Advisory Board, and the South Australian Economic Development Board, she has shown herself to be a strong advocate for Australian science and industry.
